This is a wonderful professional development opportunity for students, alumni, faculty and P-12 colleagues to hear the latest on a range of topics around the central theme of leadership.  We will hear from Greg Jones, principal of New Scotland Elementary School as he delivers the keynote address, “What Kind of Leader are You.”   We will end the day with a panel of school leaders discussing Annual Professional Performance Review. Please consider joining us.  On the conference flyer you will find a list of additional program sessions offered during the day.  Registrations can be returned directly to Kathleen Roark or the School of Education Office.  All attendees with receive a certificate of attendance.

Who:                     Preservice, new and experienced educators, speech-language therapists, counselors, and administrators.

What:                   Series of presentations, workshops, and discussions on developing your capacity to be a leader in today’s schools.

Tentative Topics Include: P-12 Students as Leaders, Leadership in a Data Driven Environment, Leading with Technology, Leading Community Service Learning, Evidence Based Practices, National Board Teacher Certification

Educator Workshop: The Not So Underground Underground Railroad

This interactive diversity workshop is designed to provide valuable information and resources to all participants that can be used in classrooms for students of all ages.  It includes presentations, discussion, a walking tour, hand-outs, refreshments and lunch.  Presenters:  Charles Reitz, PhD – Douglass, Marx, Greeley, and the German 48ers;Alan Singer, PhD – Abolitionists and Slavery in New York; G.E. Washington – Intersection of Art, History and Student Empowerment; and Kathryn Sheehan – Rensselaer County Historian.  This workshop qualifies for (6) PD hours through the Greater Capital Region Teacher Center.

$30, register by April 1
*Additional conference workshops and cultural performances will be held Friday evening (4/8), Saturday (4/9), and Sunday (4/10).

Second Annual Induction Conference: Commit, Serve, Learn

This one day conference is designed to bring together beginning educators, aspiring educators, P-12 Partners and College of Saint Rose faculty for a day of shared professional development. The day will include a number of break-out sessions and networking opportunities, with peers and representatives of professional organizations. Breakout sessions will include the following topics: service learning, instructional strategies, promoting the social-emotional well-being of students, gender / LGBTQ issues, and classroom management. Lunch is included.
