Innovative Strategies for Promoting Science and Mathematics among Elementary School Students: Model-based reasoning, statistics, and educational technologies

With math and science education at the forefront of the national education agenda, the timing couldn’t be better for Dr. Richard Lehrer, Frank W. Mayborn Professor of science education at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College and internationally‐renowned scholar, to be formally recognized by UAlbany for his work in the field. Lehrer has had an exemplary career as a teacher, psychologist and pioneering researcher in the field of mathematics and science education. Through his decades of work Lehrer has served as an example to guide his students and colleagues toward progressive instruction and lifelong learning. Light refreshments will be served. Student posters for the 10th annual poster session of the Division of Educational Psychology and Methodology will on display in the foyer prior to the lecture.
